Beijing Guoson Centre was conceptualised as a ‘collection of treasures’, or precious gems strung together, due to its range of functional programmes – a transport interchange, retail mall, five-star luxury hotel, two office towers and residential apartments. The retail podium, comprising the south and north retail complexes, unifies the development. These envelop a well-landscaped central court on the roof deck of the podium.. Thematically, the facades of the south retail complex and twin towers are designed to emulate jewels, through glazed onyx panels and windows tilted at various angles respectively.
The focus of the development is the luxury hotel – termed the ‘Crown Jewel’. A well-proportioned façade recalls the intricacies of traditional Chinese craftsmanship; when expressed with present-day architectural elements, it results in an understated elegance and a timeless design. High-quality finishes on the exterior and interiors reflect its refined nature.
The residential apartment block lies adjacent to the luxury hotel; the modern, sleek side faces an urban edge, while the other side fronts an internal landscaped court. A central landscaped court on the podium deck creates a contemporary, tranquil look for the internal facade. Inspired by nature, the architecture brings warmth into the urban centre, with the highlight being the rooftop conservatory gardens that can be enjoyed throughout the year.
