The Fort Canning Arts Centre, housing the Singapore Pinacothèque de Paris, is an adaptive reuse of a conserved colonial building set atop Fort Canning Park.
The design balances the overall design intent with stringent environmental requirements to ensure that the art pieces are well-protected.

To keep to URA’s conservation guidelines, the concept of a ‘box within a box’ was introduced to achieve the ideal conditions – the façade of the building is conserved and restored to its former glory, while a separate volume is built within the existing space to create a controlled environment for the exhibition spaces. The planning and design of the museum was done in collaboration with Laurent Guinamard-Casati.
