Admiral City is strategically located at the fringe of the city centre of Nanning, the provincial city of Guangxi, China. Together with Nanning International Convention Centre and the People’s Congress Hall, Admiral City marks the gateway into the administrative city.
The development comprises a 270m-long shopping mall (130,000sqm), a 300-room five-star hotel (30,000sqm), service apartments (50,000sqm), SOHO apartments (50,000sqm) and an office building (30,000sqm). The north of the development is a 2ha urban park. The south of the development fronts Minzu Lu, the city’s arterial road that connects to the Vietnamese borders. At the point of inception, Admiral City was the largest mixed-use development in Guangxi.
The architectural design is inspired by the client’s corporate identity: The overall form suggests four Chinese junks – the hotel, service apartment, SOHO apartment and office blocks – sailing swiftly in the ocean which is represented by the retail podium and its roof.
